Look for a certain pattern that pulls over the head a lot of these you will need ribbing for . The good thing about these blouses you can make to go with them skirt, short, slacks with the exact same fabric if you are lucky enough to find it .All pattern manufactures have these patterns most have whole wardrobe patterns where you can make the skirit, shorts, slacks, blouse, jacket.
Today people are busy
Making a blouse you will want to start with a pattern without buttons which goes over the head . You may want to put ribbing on this in a color which coordinates with it . Blouses like this come with a front back and sleeves just three pieces .
Make a pair of slacks
Get a good pattern go by your measurements and the back of the package you might not wear the same size as you do in store brought clothes . Sew the front of the slacks together first in the middle then sew the back of the slacks together then sew both together in the middle .Pin then before you sew them remove straight pins as you get to them .
color coordinating
You can make your wardrobe go further and make fewer pieces do more work if you color coordinate your clothes . Make a print and then look for solids that will work with the print . Make all of the pieces in each color you can have 2 piece dresses suits with the blouse to the three piece dresses . Slacksuits ,dress suites , two piece dresses . 2 piece slack sets . If you find the right fabric these clthes will last for years . Look for a bright print or solid don't buy faded looking fabric it will only fade more . Don't buy fabric that is to tthin hold it up to the light if you can see through it put it back . If you know what you are doing good fabric is available in all price ranges . But you have to know how to choice fabric I can walk into a store and choice a good fabric the more you sew themore you make the more you know fabric .
Don't forget to ease the fabric together
If one side of the fabric is longer then the front put the longer fabric on top hold it up in the air and work the top fabrics together you don't need ten dollars a yard fabric . I have found some very good fabric for 1 to 4 dollars a yard you just need a eye for fabric .
Broom skirts
Take into account hems you well need at least a small hem so make it at least 4 to 5 inches longer then you want then cut the fabric or rib the fabric try a small piece and see if it ripps evenly before ripping a few yards . You also have to take into account the waist band . Fold the fabric over about 1 1/2 inches and inset at least 5/8 inch elastic while sewing it . Make the elastic to fit your waist a little tight sew it together and fold over the fabric to encase the elastic . whaen this is done try it on if it fits hem it I like to hem on the machine it goes faster . Sew the side and you have a finished skirt fabric should be at least 2 times your waist line to make a gathered skirt
Jackets don't add buttons
Today you want to make clothes fast easy and simple nothing hard their are patterns which cover the front alot of them round off at the bottem but what you want is simple jackets nothing hard . We don't have time for hard today .I like the kind you sew the jacket together put in the sleaves after pinning and sew sleeves togeather once they are in the jacket then hem all of it even the sleeves .Just fold under 1/4 inch double fold that is all of the way around the jacket then hem as you go then hem the sleeves separate . The wonderful thing about sewing is you can get it to fit you no matter what your size . Their are special patterns for short people and tall people and fat people .
